CEGN's 2012 Annual Conference:

The Times They Are A-Changin  - Car le monde et les temps changent

May 22 - 24, 2012

Le Manoir du Lac Delage

Québec City, QC

Come gather ’round people
Wherever you roam
And admit that the waters
Around you have grown.

When Bob Dylan penned the Times They are A' Changin’, he gave an anthem to the aspirations of a generation struggling for a more hopeful, equitable and just society. Forty-nine years later, we may need some new singers, but the song still carries a tune.

Just outside Quebec City, on the shores of Lac Delage, this year’s National Conference comes at a critical time for CEGN and its leadership role in convening the power of philanthropy in support of Canada’s environmental values and interests.

This year’s conference program will provide an intimate, retreat-style format to consider implications of our current changing times - whether environmental, social, economic or political - for the work we do. We seek to strengthen understanding across our network, finding places to share our voices as well as those where we may differ. What can we learn from the experience of our colleagues in Quebec? What are the implications of changing roles of governments and private sector for environmental philanthropy? What is the significance of current political and media climate for the environment and its allies in philanthropy?

In the midst of the serious work, we’ll find time for fun.  Quebec wouldn’t allow it any other way. Whether it’s over a bottle of Fin du Monde or a tipped canoe, you’ll find stories, laughter and connections with people who care about the same things as you.

If your time to you is worth savin’
Then you better start swimmin’ or you’ll sink like a stone
For the times they are a-changin’.
